Useful Resources

We're hearing more and more about the stress girls are feeling in the current economic environment. Parents are losing jobs, families losing homes, and for some, basic need are getting more difficult to meet.

You asked for some resources to be able to recommend to others.  Here are a few.  (All free and anonymous.)

211 - A toll free, anonymous phone service (24 hours a day)  - with a live person who is able to help anyone connect with needed health and human services. (I tried it - they were really nice and very informative.) - Dial 211

California Youth Crisis Line - 1-800-843-5200 - Someone to talk with to support, offer encouragement, and referrals to youth needing assistance or in crisis situation.  Also provides information on-line at www.youthcrisisline.org. (I called  - a trained volunteer responded promptly and seemed very informed.)

YWCA Counseling - To arrange counseling in Salinas call 372-6300 and in Monterey call 649-8008.
